Salman Khan's Sultan has earned Rs 36.54 crore at the domestic box office on Day 1

Salman Khan's Sultan hit the screens yesterday (July 6). The Ali Abbas Zafar-directed film opened to mostly positive reviews from critics all over the country, something that hardly happens with Salman Khan's films. However, Sultan has been a game-changer for Bhai on that front too.
Sultan has Salman Khan playing wrestler Sultan Ali Khan, an Olympic gold medallist who is forced to go into retirement because of a calamity that stuck his life. The story follows this now middle-aged, pot-bellied wrestler's journey to his fight for glory and redemption.
Apart from Salman Khan in the lead role, Sultan stars Anushka Sharma as Aarfa, a wrestler and his love interest. Kumud Mishra, Amit Sadh, Parikshit Sahni and Randeep Hooda are part of the supporting cast in Sultan.
The film has been in the news ever since the trailer hit the web. Salman Khan courted much controversy after he said that he ended up feeling like a 'raped woman' after his gruelling workout schedules for Sultan.
Sultan is expected to smash all existing box office records and earn more than Rs 150 crore in its first week itself. The film hit the screens on a Wednesday, and has the Eid holiday too to add to the numbers. The five-day first week is supposed to rake in a record-breaking amount of money, even by Salman Khan standards.
Salman Khan's last release, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), had earned Rs 40.35 crore on its opening day.

Consumers interested in buying one of Microsoft's Surface tablets will now find it with Windows 10 preinstalled.
