Samsung Tipped to Launch 'Galaxy O' Range of Smartphones Soon

Until now, we have seen Samsung launching its Galaxy smartphones in various series, such as flagship S series, and the metal-bodies A series. Now however, a new report points to Samsung launching a new smartphone series called Galaxy O. Samsung is said to be planning to introduce two devices codenamed SM-G550 and SM-G600 under its 'Galaxy O' range of devices, as per Sammobile. While the SM-G550 is said to arrive with the Galaxy O5 moniker, the SM-G600 might reach the markets as the Galaxy O7. Unfortunately, there are no other details revealed on the devices' specifications, availability, price or launch dates. Talking about launch dates, now since the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 are out of the way, we can expect the Galaxy O devices to debut at the company's upcoming IFA 2015 event next month in Berlin. Samsung will also be giving away details on its Gear S2 circular smartwatch at the same event. Samsung earlier this week revealed details ab...

'Mortal Kombat': Untold Story of the Movie That "Kicked the Hell" Out of Everyone

The film — which broke the video game curse 20 years ago this week — survived broken ribs, bruised kidneys and ridicule from Hollywood: "Everyone was telling me this wouldn't work and my career would be over," recalls producer Larry Kasanoff. Video game movies may be a risky proposition today, but in 1995 they were seen as hopeless. Super Mario Bros. (1993) and Double Dragon (1994) were total bombs — despised by critics and fans alike. The campy Street Fighter (1994) fared better financially but was still years away from earning a cult following on home video. So it was against all odds when Mortal Kombat hit No. 1 in theaters 20 years ago on Aug. 18, 1995. The film grossed $122 million worldwide and broke the video game curse as the first adaptation embraced by fans. Mortal Kombat endured expensive reshoots, broken ribs and screaming executives during its journey from arcade to screen. That journey began when producer Larry Kasanoff was visiting s...

The next version of Android now has a name: Marshmallow

Ever since it launched, every major version of Android has had a dessert name. It started off with Android 1.5 Cupcake back in 2009. Nine versions later, we're finally at Android M and now, it has a name: Marshmallow.    Check out the video above where a bunch of Googlers reveal how they zeroed in on Marshmallow (over, you know, Milkshake, or Marzipan). There's also a cool bit where you get to meet the guy who actually makes the Android sculptures that currently sit on the lawn in front of the Android building in Google's Mountain View headquarters. Android Marshmallow -- officially version 6.0 -- will roll out to supported Android phones later this year, probably in October or November. Some of the new features include direct sharing between Android devices and built-in support for fingerprint sensors .

Google builds a standalone Hangouts website

Google has built Hangouts its own website, but it's not spinning it out of Gmail completely like the company did with several properties to form its new parent corporation. It's just one of the (many, many) ways to access the messaging service, in case you'd rather not keep Gmail open or your default browser is Firefox/ MS Edge and, hence, can't install the Chrome extension. The website's photo background changes every few minutes like Chromecast's, and it has quick links to video calling, voice calling and messaging. A new tab launches when you click "Video Call" and asks for permission to access your webcam, while the usual Hangouts chat window appears when you click "Message." "Phone Call" displays your contacts on the white panel above. Finally, the hamburger button on the top left corner opens a pop-out menu that links to Hangouts' listing on Google Play, iTunes and Chrome. You can access the n...

New Attack On Titan Game Will Let You Fight Like Levi If You Got The Skills

Koei Tecmo’s Warriors studio Omega Force is working on a new Attack on Titan project that is in development using the PS4 as a base. During an interview with Famitsu , producer Hisashi Koinuma and director Tomoyuki Kitamura shared some of the latest details on the game. [Thanks, Hachima .] Koinuma says that the Musou or Warriors series tends to put you in “one against many enemies” situations, but for Attack on Titan he wants to make it into something different, along the lines of  “many [humans] against an enemy [Titan]” situations instead. He’s also thinking about adding more tactical elements than with your regular Musou titles. As far as the action goes, Kitamura says that its movement will be more comfortable than the Warriors games. “The part that we ought to focus more on is about ‘how to make it feel good while flying around using the 3D Maneuver Gear?’ and we’ve redone this system numerous times,” adds Koinuma. He goes on to explain that since Attack on Titan i...
